Foods That Can Make Your Mood Better

A lot of us have been taught to believe that comfort foods are terrible and must be avoided. At times, if your comfort food is made of candy or other junk foods, this can be true. Other times, however, comfort foods can be totally nourishing and it’s good for you to consume them. There are several foods that, when you consume them, can boost your mood. When you feel a little down and need an emotional pick-me-up, test out a few of these.

Eggs, would you believe, are fantastic for helping you battle depression. You must be sure, however, that what you make includes the egg yolk. The yolk is the most important part of the egg iwhen it comes to helping raise your mood. Eggs, the egg yolks in particular, are loaded with B vitamins. The B vitamin family can be fantastic for raising your mood. This is because they help in improving the function of your neural transmitters, the parts of your brain that dictate your mood. Consume an egg and be happy!

Build a trail mix out of seeds and/or nuts. Your mood can be elevated by eating peanuts, almonds, cashews, sunflower seeds, pumpkin seeds, and other types of nuts. This is because these nuts are loaded with magnesium, which helps to boost your production of serotonin. Not only that, nuts, specifically, are a fantastic source of protein.

Cold water fish are wonderful for eating if you want to combat depression. Salmon, herring, tuna fish, mackerel, trout, and so on, they’re all high in omega-3s and DHA. Grains can be great for fighting a terrible mood. Millet, quinoa, barley, etc are excellent at helping you feel better. These foods fill you up better and that can help you with your moods also. Feeling starved can truly bring you down! The reason these grains are so good for your mood is that they are not difficult for your stomach to digest. You digest these foods faster than other foods which can help boost your blood sugar levels, which, in turn, helps make you feel happier, mood wise.

Green tea is actually great for your mood. You were simply anticipating to read that in this article, weren’t you? Green tea is loaded with a particular amino acid referred to as L-theanine. Studies have shown that this amino acid actually stimulates brain waves. This helps improve your mental energy while at the same time making the rest of your body more relaxed.
