Learn How to Improve Your Mood with Food

Many of us think that comfort foods are not good for us and that we should avoid them. If your comfort food is candy or junk food this might be true. Other times, though, comfort foods can be totally healthy and it’s good for you to eat them. There are some foods that, when you consume them, could boost your mood. When you feel a little down and are needing an emotional boost, test out a few of these.

Eggs, you may be surprised to discover, are fantastic at combating depression. You should make sure, though, that what you make includes the yolk. Whenever you wish to cheer yourself up, the egg yolk is the most essential part of the egg. Eggs, the egg yolks especially, are high in B vitamins. The B vitamin family can be fantastic for lifting up your mood. This is because they increase the function of your brain’s neural transmitters (the parts of the brain that affect how you feel). Consume an egg and be happy!

Make a trail mixfrom various seeds and nuts. Almonds, cashews, peanuts, pumpkin seeds, sunflower seeds, and so on are all wonderful for raising your mood. This is possible since these foods are rich in magnesium which raises serotonin production. Serotonin is the “feel good” chemical substance that tells your brain how you feel day in and day out. The more of it in your brain, the happier you’ll feel. Not just that but nuts, specifically, are a terrific protein source.

Cold water fish are wonderful for eating if you are wanting to combat depression. Salmon, herring, tuna, mackerel, trout, etc, they’re all chock-full of omega-3s and DHA. DHA and omega-3s are two things that raise the quality and the function of your brain’s grey matter. It’s true: chomping on a tuna fish sandwich can really help you overcome depression.

Some grains are really excellent for fighting off bad moods. Barley, millet, quinoa, etc are terrific at helping you feel happier. They fill you up better and that can help improve your moods too. Feeling famished can be a real downer! The reason these grains are so good for your mood is that they are easy for your body to digest and process. They are simpler to digest than other foods which helps kick up your blood sugar levels and that, in turn, elevates your mood.

Green tea is really great for your mood. You just knew green tea had to be included in this article, right? Green tea is rich in an amino acid referred to as L-theanine. Studies prove that this particular amino acid can essentially induce brain waves. This will better your brain’s focus while simultaneously calming the rest of your body. You were already aware that that green tea helps you feel a lot healthier. Now you know that green tea can elevate your mood too!

Now you know that junk food isn’t necessarily what you need to eat when you wish to help your moods get better. Try a few of these instead!
